Mike Tindall lets slip what royal life is really like after 'silencing' I'm A Celeb co-stars

I'm A Celebrity 's Owen Warner had more royal-themed questions for campmate Mike Tindall on Thursday night, as he grilled him about Buckingham Palace.

Mike has mentioned his link to the Royals a few times, while he didn't seem too keen to discuss his relatives in a recent episode.

According to a body language expert, Mike "signalled for the camp to back off" as they brought up the Royal Family this week.

That said, Owen asked Mike all about Buckingham Palace and his romance with wife Zara Tindall, the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II.

Owen was left surprised by Mike's answer when he asked the former rugby player about protocols and dress codes at the palace.

The Hollyoaks actor had asked: "Have you been to Buckingham Palace much?" to which Mike replied: "More than most."

As Owen asked: "What’s it like there?" he said: "A lot of it’s all the state rooms and there’s only a little bit of living. Yeah [I’ve stayed there]."

Owen then quizzed: "In the morning could you go down in your joggers and t-shirt, or did you have to get dressed up again?"

Mike surprised him as he admitted: "No, jeans and a tee," to which Owen said: "I thought you had to be suited and booted!"

Owen worried he was intruding on his private life and asked Mike: "Do you mind chatting about it?", to which Mike said: "No, I don’t mind."

Owen then asked: "When you first started chatting to Zara, how late in did you know she was royalty? Straight away?"

Mike confessed: "Yeah, because I know she’s Princess Anne’s daughter. Princess Anne is patron of Scottish Rugby."

Owen went on: "Did you feel a bit of pressure? If I was chatting to a girl and then found out she was royalty I’d be nervous."

Mike explained: "No because we were friends first and then William and Harry were massive England fans at the time, so we’d met them numerous times. Met more of the family than you’d normally have met of the woman you start dating."

Earlier in the series, Mike revealed he almost didn't meet his future wife in the encounter that led to them dating.

Mike and Zara first met each other in a Sydney bar while Mike competed in England's successful World Cup campaign in Oz, back in 2003.

The pair went on to tie the knot in 2011 and they have since welcomed three children; Mia Grace, eight, Lena Elizabeth, four and son Lucas, who turned one in March this year.

During a chat, with his campmates Mike said of how they met: "I was at the World Cup, she was out watching. I got dropped from the semi-final. I was p****d off and so I went for a beer with another guy who got dropped and a guy who was over [in Sydney].

"They’d met her before and they introduced us and then got chatting."

When Owen asked, "If you never got dropped you never would have met her?", Mike admitted it was the manager's "best decision" for him and he was thrilled that the pair got along so well, with their love having since blossomed.

As they chatted more about relationships, Mike opened up about his first date with Zara – and admitted it was quite "boozy".

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
