Mike McGlinchey says Bo Nix has avoided mistake ‘probably every player makes’

The positive reviews for Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix continue to pour in both from defensive and offensive teammates. Broncos coach Sean Payton can’t hide his excitement for the QB, either. It’s easy to see why.

Nix, 24, entered the league as the most-experienced college quarterback ever with 61 career starts. Consequently, he is more mature and composed than a typical rookie quarterback. That’s according to teammates.

Broncos right tackle Mike McGlinchey added to the praise this week, noting that Nix has avoided a key mistake that happens to nearly every player in the NFL.

“Well certainly you see a guy that’s not afraid to compete,” McGlinchey said Wednesday. “I think that’s the biggest factor for him as he’s come into this camp. You could put yourself behind by playing hesitant. It’s certainly a mistake that probably every player makes at some point in his career and especially as a young guy. We haven’t seen any of that from Bo and that’s been a really, really cool thing to watch. Certainly, he’s going to keep building on that confidence too.

“I said it the other day, he has a very unique combination of humility and confidence that goes a long way for his position and certainly, as a rookie stepping in here with a lot of pressure on himself. He’s taken that [in] stride and there’s no fear of competition and there’s no fear of getting out there and going for it. That certainly has showed in the way that he’s progressed all of camp.”

Nix impressed in his NFL debut against the Indianapolis Colts last week and he is now set to start against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Based on all of the reports from training camp and Nix’s performance, the QB seems to be well on his way to winning the starting job in Denver.
