New Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was, as I wrote in January, the most interesting man in the NFL, mostly because of the way he spoke during meetings with reporters.
There wasn’t a cliche in sight, and even some deep insights and humor. Very un-coach-like.
So when he appeared on Rich Eisen’s show, the host challenged him to use some coaching cliches while talking to reporters at the NFL combine: “I don’t have a crystal ball,” “it is what it is” and “I’m only talking about the guys that are here.”
McDaniel wondered if he could do it in one sentence. And … he did.
Here’s how it started:
New #FinsUp head coach Mike McDaniel knows how to play the game and what we’re all about — so he’s willing to play our silly game.

And how it went:

He got a well-deserved high-five from Eisen.
