“I felt calm, I felt sharp. This is the loosest I’ve ever felt in there, the most relaxed I’ve ever felt, the most it’s ever felt like playing to me.”

“This sport’s such a f*cking roller coaster. I felt bulletproof all week, and then there was just like a few hours this morning when it just f*cking sucks. ‘Dude, why do I do this?’ And then an hour later, it’s like, ‘I don’t think anyone in the world can beat me.’ It’s just back and forth. It’s like a f*cking annoying roommate in your head, just swinging all over the place. Can I just have some consistency in my head?”

Malott on what he wants next

“I don’t care where it is in Canada – it can be in Moosejaw. We can go anywhere. We can to Toronto, Halifax, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Edmonton – I don’t care. I want to fight at home. I want to see Canadian flags in the crowd while I’m walking around post-win. That’s what I want. That’s a dream come true for me.”
