Miguel Almiron's touching off-field gestures show character of new Newcastle United favourite

Miguel Almiron might be performing on the pitch for Newcastle United but he's also showing his class off it too. The Paraguayan international has been helping former team-mates and fellow countrymen with words of advice and signed gifts in recent months.

Almiron 's stock has enjoyed a meteoric rise after a stunning start to the season that has seen him notch seven goals in his last seven games. The winger is impressing his many fans back in South America, inspiring a host of young Paraguayans in the process.

The wide man’s former team-mate at Cerro Porteno and European Championship winner with Spain, Dani Guiza, admits he has been talking to the Newcastle favourite and is delighted with his turnaround.

“For Miguel, I feel a lot of pride, satisfaction, because he is a boy who has worked hard. This morning I was talking to him. I did a post on Instagram, I replied that I am very happy that he has succeeded,” he explained.

“He has sent me a Newcastle shirt, I have it signed at home. When a footballer is happy and always wants to learn, he will always improve.

“Hopefully it will be a principle for many boys from the Cerro youth academy, that they see him and know that it can be achieved, with a lot of work and sacrifice, but it can be achieved. Nothing is by chance. If you work, you will go far for sure.”

Almiron has also been helping out closer to home, offering words of wisdom to fellow Premier League star Julio Enciso. The Brighton youngster, 18, has struggled to settle on the south coast since his arrival but has received some comfort from a fellow Paraguayan.

“When we had to play against Newcastle, we talked about the subject of patience," Enciso admitted recently. "He explained to me that it was also difficult for him to play from the start and that helped me a lot."

Almiron's character has never been questioned, with the 28-year-old always giving his upmost best for Newcastle - even in tricky spells. “For me, he’s given me everything from day one, very committed to the team," Howe said last month.

"He’s a real team player and he’s getting the recognition that he deserves. You can’t under-estimate the quality of the goals that he’s delivered for us."
