Miguel Almiron admits he is ready to graft for his future as he steps up to replace the injured Ryan Fraser between now and the end of the season. The Paraguayan has been in and out of the Newcastle United fold in recent months as he struggled to oust Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin in attack.
Almiron started from the outset in the back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Everton before being picked over Jacob Murphy when Fraser was injured early against Wolves last week. The attacker is facing questions surrounding his future at present with a big summer clear out expected on Tyneside this summer.
But in typical Miggy fashion, the former Atlanta United star is ready to give his all in the hope he can end the season on a high. "It was unfortunate that our team-mate Ryan got injured but then despite those circumstances I was pleased to be able to help the lads out. I believe that you simply have to always be ready to that. Whenever you chance comes, either as a substitute from the bench or in the starting XI from the outset," he told NUFCTV.

"The truth is that I always put in the hard graft in training so I can be ready for when I get my opportunity. It's been perhaps a little tough for me because throughout the season I've not had the chance to be featuring regularly, but that is all part and parcel of the game. Like I said, you just have to focus on making sure that you are ready, that you are training hard, wherever you find yourself at any given moment.
"Lately I've been having to start games on the bench, and from there it's still all about offering all the support I can to the team, and the rest of my teammates. We've got some great players here at Newcastle, and whenever it's my turn to either start or to come on as a substitute it's all about trying to bring everything I can offer from my game in order to help the team out."
Speaking after the win at Wolves, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted he was happy with Almiron's performance and attitude. "Despite the fact he hasn't trained with us a great deal, I backed him physically to play that time, and the energy and pressing that Miggy gives you is a real weapon," he said.
"He was tireless, his defensive positioning was very good and he had moments where he affected it in the final third, several good runs in behind. He played his part in the VAR goal that was disallowed, so a really good night for Miggy, I thought."
