Midshire Telecom bought out by 4Com

A Black Country telecommunications firm has been bought out by a South West firm.

West Bromwich-based Midshire Telecom, which specialises in the supply of office telephone systems, business broadband and mobile services, has been acquired by 4Com.

It is the first buyout deal in Bournemouth-based 4Com's 23-year history.

The deal will see 4Com deliver new products and services including managed IT and office wi-fi services to its customer base while introducing its products and services to Midshire Telecom's existing clients.

Midshire Telecom, which was founded in 2002, will retain its brand and operate as part of the 4Com Group of companies.

Managing director Jim Callaghan said: "We are excited about our next chapter as part of 4Com.

"By leveraging 4Com's scale and resources, we can deliver added value to our own customers as well as 4Com's customers in the future.

"Having visited and met their leadership team on a number of occasions throughout our negotiations, I'm confident the team at Midshire will prove of great help to them and that our customers will benefit from the services and support they provide."

4Com's chief operating officer Dean Cartledge will now become Midshire Telecom's chief executive.

He added: "We see a great deal of opportunity thanks to this acquisition. Midshire Telecom has additional expertise in fields such as managed IT services and office wi-fi solutions which we're excited to be able to offer to our existing customers while also introducing our own solutions to their customer base."

4Com's chief executive Gary Scutt said: "As our first ever acquisition, this is a huge milestone for us and it was incredibly important we got it right. It was essential to have a partner we knew we could trust."

Law firm Moore Barlow acted on the deal and terms were not disclosed.
