This comes as the Coastguard was called out on Monday (August 8) after a missing child was reported on Berrow Beach. With beaches being busy in summer, it is easy for children to become disorientated and lose contact with their families.
Whilst ready to depart the station and make their way to Berrow Beach, the Coastguard were informed the child was found safely. Tasked but not launched were the RNLI Lifeboats as part of this call-out.
Burnham Coastguard Rescue Team have issued advice for attending busy beaches in summer. In a Facebook post about the Berrow call-out, they said, 'When visiting the beach we advise on arrival you arrange a meeting point that is easily seen.
'Take a family photo so there is an relevant photo of what they are wearing. If the beaches have lifeguards, ask if they have some free wristbands you can add important info to.
'In the event of an emergency along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.'
