A Midlothian pensioner has been left 'black and blue' after being knocked onto the pavement by a cyclist who failed to stop before making off.
Linda Lewenhak, 73, was leaving her home on Edgehead Road, on the outskirts of Dalkeith, when the man came from behind and hit he - sending her tumbling onto the pavement.
As a result, Linda was left with a badly bruised face and a deep cut to her elbow which required stitches. According to Linda and her granddaughter Nicola, the man checked whether his bike was damaged and then cycled off.

When Linda's husband realised what was going on he came outside and attempted to ask the cyclist what his name and address was, but he refused to answer and left the scene.
Thankfully, on their way to the hospital, Linda and her husband passed the cyclist just outside Dalkeith and stopped to take a picture of the man - who is seen wearing a red jacket, black joggers and carrying a rucksack on his back.
Sharing what had happened on Facebook in the hope of someone tracking down the individual, Nicola says her nana has been left incredibly shaken following the incident and has stayed at home since.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live she said: "It was actually right outside where it happened. She was stepping out of her car and onto the path when the man knocked her over from behind.
"My grandad got out the car and was trying to ask the man what his name was but he just said to my nana 'you're fine'. He checked his bike was fine then just cycled off.
"My grandad helped her into the car and went to the hospital themselves instead of phoning an ambulance and by chance they passed the man again on the main road so they stopped a little in front of him and took a picture of him going past.
"Even then he still kept cycling. I shared it on Facebook but so far nobody has got in touch to say they recognise him, he could be from anywhere. My nana had to get x-rays and luckily she hasn't broken anything.
"She was given stiches for a cut on her elbow and obviously her face is so bruised and swollen, she also has bruises on her stomach and ribs as well. She hasn't really gone out since it happened as she doesn't want to with her face looking like that."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving a cyclist and a female pedestrian on Edgehead Road, Pathhead, around 7.30pm on Sunday, 2 July, 2023. The woman attended at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and to trace the cyclist. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0849 of 3 July, 2023.”
