A Midlothian man was knocked to the ground and punched by a cyclist in an unprovoked attack near a local miners club.
Police have launched a probe into the incident which left the 41-year-old with serious facial injuries as a result of the brutal attack which took place on a footpath behind Woodburn Miners Club.
The man was approached by another male riding a bike on Friday, March 10, around 9.50pm. Officers say the individual on the bike collided with the pedestrian intentionally and proceeded to attack him.

The 41-year-old required hospital treatment and the attacker made off on the bicycle in an unknown direction.
Detective Sergeant Marion Anderson, of Dalkeith CID, said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack and we are eager to trace the man responsible.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen this man on his bicycle or where he went to get in touch as you may have information that could help with our enquiries.”
