Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Wolfsburg teenager Aster Vranckx as they look to strengthen in the centre of the pitch.
But the Reds could face competition for the 19-year-old central midfielder. Premier League rivals Everton are also said to be keen on securing his services.
According to French journalist Loic Tanzi, who works for RMC Sport, Vranckx has caught the eye of the two clubs. It looks as though there will be a fight for his signature, as both “hope to be able to sign” the Belgian.

Keeper close
Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of Burnley goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.
Hennessey was restricted to just two appearances at Turf Moor last season, with Nick Pope being the first-choice between the sticks in their relegation campaign. The 35-year-old has been deemed as surplus to requirements ahead of this season as new boss Vincent Kompany is keen to sign a new number one following Pope's transfer to Newcastle United.
Although Forest have added Dean Henderson to their ranks as the first choice shot-stopper following the exit of Ethan Hovarth on loan and Brice Samba's departure to Lens, a deal for the Wales international "is close to being completed", according to talkSPORT's Alex Crook. Boss Steve Cooper is apparently keen to have Hennessey as Henderson's back-up.
After signing for Burnley last summer, the 35-year-old has only gone on to make three appearances, keeping one clean sheet. He has previously had spells at Crystal Palace and Wolves.
Transfer planning
Head coach Steve Cooper is keen to ensure Nottingham Forest have the necessary strength in depth for their return to the Premier League.
Six new faces have been added so far this summer, with Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards and Neco Williams all putting pen to paper. And more will follow as Cooper puts his stamp on the squad which he wants to hold its own in the top-flight.
Midfield remains an area to be addressed, especially as Ryan Yates faces a race to be fit for the season opener against Newcastle United after suffering a knee injury. And adding a left wing-back, as well as strengthening the Reds’ attacking resources are also on the cards.
Cooper is keen to maintain the strong team spirit which was such a key part of last term’s promotion success. He remains coy over how many more signings are required, however.
New coach
Nottingham Forest have appointed Jamie Robinson to Steve Cooper’s coaching staff.
Robinson replaces Steven Reid as first-team coach under the Welshman. The former Republic of Ireland international announced last week he was leaving the City Ground to take up a new challenge.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time to join Nottingham Forest and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead in building on our return to the Premier League,” Robinson told the official website. “I’ve known Steve Cooper for many years and we’ve worked together closely in previous roles.
“However, in the last year I have been able to visit the Nigel Doughty Academy on a more regular basis and see closely the incredible work that is being done at Forest. Alongside Steve, there’s an excellent coaching team who have a modern and innovative approach to the game. There’s great ambition within the coaches and the wider team, so I can’t wait to get started.”
