Midfielder Connor Murray returns to Queen of the South after leaving Partick Thistle

Wullie Gibson has brought a familiar face back to Palmerston with the signing of Connor Murray.

The 25-year-old spent five years at Palmerston before moving to Partick Thistle in 2020 and helping them win promotion from League One.

He was released by Ian McCall at the start of May following the end of the last Championship campaign. But now midfielder Murray will be looking to win promotion again from League One with the Palmerston outfit.

Connor is a product of St Mirren’s academy programme but joined Queens the first time in 2015.

He quickly established himself in the development side and also had a successful loan at Gretna 2008 before becoming a regular member of the first-team squad under both Gary Naysmith and Allan Johnston. His highlights included scoring in both the semi-final and final of the 2019 play-offs as Queens defeated Montrose and Raith Rovers to secure their Championship status.

Murray has signed a one-year deal with the opportunity to earn a second year built in to it and put pen to paper when pre-season training began on Monday morning.
