Middlesbrough vs Tottenham prediction and odds: Harry Kane backed to score at Riverside

Tottenham Hotspur may well be clutching at straws with hopes of lifting a trophy for the first time in 14 years but they are still within a chance in the FA Cup as they travel to the north-east to face Middlesbrough.

Spurs are the favourites at 8/11 with Betfred while Boro are 4/1 and a draw after 90 minutes is 11/4.

Antonio Conte's side will be fancying their chances with the bookies pricing them as the fourth-favourite to lift the trophy for the first time since 1991.

They will still be cautious about it all with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool all with easier ties, on paper, plus the Reds have the extra motivation of being in the chance of winning the elusive quadruple too.

However, they go to Riverside against a Boro side capable of getting a cupset result their way after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford last month and are currently on seven wins on-the-bounce at home too.

Team stats

  • Both sides in matches involving Spurs have scored nine times from a possible 25 league matches while for Boro it is 17 from 33 - both teams to score is 4/5
  • Spurs have finished 14 matches with three or more total goals while for Boro it is 13 from 33 - over 2.5 goals is 4/5

Player to watch

I feel Harry Kane will be one of the first names mentioned in Antonio Conte's side.

The Italian will be keen for Spurs to be involved in the only competition they have a chance of winning some silverware this season after disappointment in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup so far this season.

A match like this will need big players to avoid a banana-skin moment in the FA Cup and Kane is the perfect player for the occasion.

H2H

This will be the 96th meeting between the two sides with Spurs picking up 36 wins, 25 draws and 34 losses in all competitions.

However, in the FA Cup, Spurs are unbeaten against the Teesside club.
