It’s early, but the Detroit Lions have more or less picked up where they left off last season. Through three games, Detroit resembles a genuine NFC power and is probably the frontrunner for its first NFC North title in over three decades.
The quarterback at the helm of this Lions resurgence is Jared Goff. After scoring a game-icing touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Goff tried jumping into a sea of home Lions fans. He failed … terribly. As a new video from NFL Films shows, Goff wasn’t going to let himself live this folly down.
He talked to Teddy Bridgewater about the jump afterward, ensuring his backup saw his embarrassing display of “athleticism”:
"My jump was horrible!" @JaredGoff16 didn't quite make it into the stands 😂 @InsideTheNFL pic.twitter.com/NFDUVhmFiV

Goff can take solace in knowing that no one in Detroit expects to make these kinds of leaps. He’s masterfully conducting one of the NFL’s most explosive and efficient offenses right now. Provided that continues, we can just laugh at the veteran trying (and failing) to celebrate with fans in a unique way.
