Software giant Microsoft on Tuesday pitched developers on its latest artificial intelligence tools in a bid to further its ambition to lead the tech industry in the generative AI era. Microsoft stock rose on the news.
In a keynote speech at the company's Microsoft Build conference in Seattle, Chief Executive Satya Nadella discussed new capabilities coming to its Azure cloud infrastructure and AI assistants called Copilots.
Those advancements include Real-Time Intelligence in the Microsoft Fabric platform. This feature allows users to act on high-volume, time-sensitive and highly granular data to make faster and more informed business decisions.
Microsoft also introduced the first set of extensions to its AI-based software development tool GitHub Copilot. The company said GitHub Copilot now has 1.8 million paid subscribers.
Plus, Microsoft said it is bringing the latest large language model from partner OpenAI to its users. That model, GPT-4o, integrates text, image and audio processing for generative and conversational AI experiences.
Microsoft Stock Hits Buy Point
On the stock market today, Microsoft stock rose 0.9% to close at 429.04. Earlier in the session, Microsoft stock hit a buy point of 430.82 out of a flat base, according to IBD MarketSurge. In intraday trading, it reached a record high of 432.97.
On Monday, Microsoft unveiled a new category of Windows personal computers designed for artificial intelligence called Copilot+ PCs. The company said its latest Surface laptop far outperforms Apple's MacBook Air notebook in speed and battery life.
Microsoft stock is on the IBD Long-Term Leaders stock list. It also is one of the Magnificent Seven stocks.
