Microsoft Confirms Blue Screen Issue After July Security Update

Microsoft Windows users are facing yet another blue screen issue, this time caused by the July Microsoft Patch Tuesday security update. Unlike the typical blue screen of death, this new problem boots affected users into a BitLocker encryption recovery screen.

Users of Windows 10, 11, and Server who recently installed the July security update may encounter this blue screen, which requests a BitLocker recovery key to be entered. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating.

According to Microsoft, devices with BitLocker encryption enabled are most likely to be impacted. If users encounter the BitLocker recovery screen after rebooting, they are advised to enter the recovery key to allow the device to boot up normally.

Microsoft has assured users that more information will be provided as the investigation progresses. In the meantime, a workaround has been suggested: users can retrieve the recovery key by logging into the BitLocker recovery screen portal with their Microsoft account.

The affected Windows platforms include Windows 10, 11, and Server. Microsoft is working to address the issue and provide a solution for impacted users.
