Highlights
Bestselling author John Grisham is back with a new thriller this year. Titled 'The Boys from Biloxi', the legal thriller was released in October 2022 and it has topped the bestsellers' charts already.
Set in Biloxi, Mississippi in the 1960s, 'The Boys from Biloxi' follows the story of two childhood friends, Keith Rudy and Hugh Malco, who turn enemies. Twelve-year-olds Keith and Hugh are great friends but their lives shapes up very differently. While Keith studies quite hard and becomes an attorney, just like his father who was a legendary prosecutor, Hugh works at his father's nightclubs. And along with the nightlife comes the corruption and vices, from gambling to prostitution to drugs... Taking his career ahead, Keith decides to run for the district attorney position and in turn, put criminals and corrupt official behind bars thus cleaning up Biloxi's underworld. This puts Keith and Hugh, along with their fathers, face to face for a showdown that would take place in a courtroom.
'The Boys from Biloxi' is a story of two childhood friends, both from immigrant families, who end up on the opposite sides of the law. The cast vivid characters and Grisham's plot twists is what makes this an interesting read.
How critics view the book:
Kirkus Reviews says, "Not vintage Grisham but still a worthy yarn."
Stephen Dalton writes for Medium.com, "I would recommend The Boys from Biloxi to anyone who enjoys a legal thriller or courtroom drama — especially those who enjoy a historical narrative or stories based on real-life events."
