Hollywood star Mickey Rourke is reportedly considering legal action against ITV after his sudden removal from Celebrity Big Brother, claiming he was unfairly axed just before he became eligible for a major payday.
The 72-year-old actor was booted from the house following multiple incidents involving inappropriate language and behaviour. But his team now believes it wasn’t just about his on-screen antics. Rourke’s rep, Kimberly Hines, told The Sun that they’re “weighing a lawsuit against ITV,” claiming he was “deliberately removed” just a day before triggering a clause in his contract that would’ve seen him earn significantly more.
To make matters worse, Rourke had booked himself into a luxury hotel during his time on the show, only to be told ITV would only cover up to £230 per night, leaving him to foot the rest of the bill. After his eviction, his team said he was “sent to the airport with barely a ride” and no full payment, reported GB News.
According to insiders, Rourke was becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Just hours before his exit, production staff were reportedly “at their wits’ end” with his behaviour, which had included everything from offensive remarks to physical intimidation.
ITV later confirmed: “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour.”
The trouble began when Rourke clashed with 21-year-old US singer JoJo Siwa, making homophobic comments and telling her she “wouldn’t be gay anymore” if he stayed in the house longer. He also said he planned to “vote out the lesbian” — comments that earned him an official warning and eventually an apology to Siwa.
But things only escalated. During a pirate-themed task, he reportedly squared up to Love Island star Chris Hughes in what producers described as “threatening and aggressive” behaviour. He also made EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer cry with digs at her cooking and sparked backlash for remarks about Donna Preston’s weight.
Even host AJ Odudu wasn’t spared. Viewers were quick to pick up on what they described as “creepy” behaviour when Rourke made her visibly uncomfortable by staring at her body. At one point, she had to tell him to “stop looking at me” live on air.
While ITV remains tight-lipped about any potential legal action, it’s clear Rourke’s explosive exit has left a cloud over this season — and a possible court battle looming.
