Actor Mickey Kuhn, best known for his role in the Academy Award-winning film Gone with the Wind, has died aged 90.

His wife Barbara confirmed that the former child star passed away at a hospice facility in Naples, Florida.

Kuhn played Beau Wilkes, the son of Olivia de Havilland and Leslie Howard’s characters, in 1939 film Gone with the Wind.

The star was just six years old when he took on the role and was the last surviving cast member from the production.

Following Gone With The Wind, he went on to star in Dick Tracey in 1945, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers in 1946, and John Wayne’s 1948 movie Red River.

Kuhn actually got his big break aged two when he played an adopted baby in Janet Gaynor’s Change of Heart in 1934.

The star was just six when he appeared in the Oscar-winning film Gone with the Wind (MGM)

In 2008, the star recalled to Films of the Golden Age how he landed his first role.

He shared: “Of course, I don’t remember this day, but my mother and I were in Sears-Roebuck on Santa Monica and Western when a lady stopped my mother and said that Fox Studio was looking for twin babies for a movie they were shooting.

“She had a baby girl that looked a lot like me and thought we could be cast. Well, we went over there, and I, but not the lady’s baby, was cast.”

Kuhn called time on his acting career in 1957 and swapped the big screen for a job in aviation, landing a role in airport management for American Airlines.

Following his role at American Airlines, he held a number of administrative positions at Boston Airport, before retiring in 1995.

Kuhn is survived by his wife and their two children.
