Mayra Bueno Silva continued her impact on the women’s bantamweight division on Saturday when she took out former champion Holly Holm in the UFC on ESPN 49 main event.
Silva (11-2-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC) remained undefeated in the weight class and notched her biggest win to date with a second-round submission of Holm (15-7 MMA, 8-7 UFC) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Afterward, she called for a shot at the belt that recently was vacated by Amanda Nunes.
There was a back-and-forth on social media and in interviews between Silva and former titleholder Julianna Peña in the aftermath of the event, possibly setting the stage for a showdown between them.
