Magomed Ankalaev offered more evidence that he’s one of the best, if not the best light heavyweight in the world with a statement performance against Johnny Walker at UFC Fight Night 234.
After a foolish illegal knee led to a no contest in their first meeting at UFC 294 this past October, Ankalaev (19-1-1 MMA, 10-1-1 UFC) left no doubt in the rematch when he scored a second-round knockout of Walker (21-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) to extend his unbeaten streak to 12 fights and position himself for a shot at gold.
With 205-pound champion Alex Pereira currently not booked, and a potential opening for a matchup at UFC 300 on April 13, is Ankalaev the top candidate for the next title bout?
