Mick Maynard’s Shoes: Does Israel Adesanya deserve rematch after UFC 293 title loss?

Israel Adesanya’s second run as middleweight champion came to an abrupt end Saturday at UFC 293, courtesy of Sean Strickland.

Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) in the headlining act at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, marking the second time he’s lost the belt in his past three contests.

The result against Strickland raised a number of questions about what the future holds for “The Last Stylebender,” who has achieved a level of activity at the championship level in recent years that can only be matched by a handful of other fighters throughout the course of UFC history.

UFC president Dana White pined for a rematch between Adesanya and Strickland in the aftermath of UFC 293, but given Adesanya didn’t defend the belt during this reign and lost convincingly, is he actually the most worthy?

Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on Adesanya’s future after UFC 293.
