Mick Jagger's former penthouse has one of the most unique velvet walls I've ever seen – the boho-style home is on the market for $7 million

Mick Jagger's former penthouse.

Mick Jagger's rock 'n' roll lifestyle is well-documented, from the venues he played as lead singer of The Rolling Stones to the luxury homes he has lived in. Now, someone will have the chance to embrace one of the music icon's former properties, as his old Marylebone penthouse has just hit the market for $7 million.

'Offering substantial lateral living on the doorstep of Regent’s Park, the former London home of rock legend Mick Jagger provides ample bedrooms and large reception rooms,' says Jeremy Gee, managing director of Beauchamp Estates, in a press release. 'We anticipate the listing will attract significant interest from discerning buyers and fans of The Rolling Stones from around the world.'

The home offers much to be admired, but its red-walled living room is the most unique feature, in our opinion. In this space, a wooden, L-shaped bench contrasts with the unique, red velvet wall decor, while parquet floors prove themselves as a timeless wood flooring idea. It's brave and bold, without feeling overwhelming.

Measuring in at 2,495 square feet, with ceiling heights of up to 3.12 metres. The four-bedroom apartment is located on the fourth floor off an Edwardian building called Harley House. Its history is also rich; it used to house a Catholic organization providing accommodations for Irish migrants who moved to London to work as servants for wealthy families living in Regent’s Park and Marylebone.

After World War Two, it transitioned into luxury apartments. Flash forward to 1966 – the height of the Stones' career – and the apartment was decorated in a timely, bohemian style upon Mick Jagger's arrival. There are even some flecks of that eclectic aesthetic remaining now. Let's take an even closer look...

The study is a clear highlight of the space, featuring floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, large windows, and a purple, velvet accent chair.

The bathroom, meanwhile, has a cool, marbled facade, with a standalone tub sitting pretty between a rain shower and double sinks.

The sitting room is elegant yet slightly eccentric. Creams and woods color the area, with a gorgeous, white fireplace and candelabra-style chandelier giving the room a luxurious, traditional feel. However, it's a leopard print accent chair that modernizes the space, adding a playful touch to the chic room (and making the case for decorating with animal print).

The playful-meets-elegant energy continues into the den, where another velvet, purple sofa contrasts a floral rug, adding just the right amount of color and pattern to the white and wood area.

The dining room is simple yet refined, featuring a long, wood table, greige, velvet upholstered chairs, and a neutral rug, all balanced out by another candelabra chandelier. A large piece of gold-framed wall art infuses some visual interest to the calming room.

Finally, the bedroom features an unexpected pop of color in the form of turqoiuse, with a painted accent wall and zig-zag bedframe.
