Mick Jagger's fiancée Melanie Hamrick admits they may not marry due to her secret fear

Mick Jagger’s partner Melanie Hamrick has revealed they secretly got engaged years ago - and shared why they might not get married.

The former ballerina, 37, began dating the Rolling Stones frontman, 81, in 2014 and they have been inseparable ever since.

She told the French publication, Paris Match, on Wednesday: "We've been engaged two or three years.”

Hamrick shared her fears about tying the knot, explaining: "Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.”

The American choreographer - who shares son Deveraux, seven, with Jagger - also dished the secret to their 10-year relationship.

"We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That's all that matters to me and all I strive for,” she said.

In 2023, Hamrick revealed Jagger had given her a “promise ring” after sparking engagement rumours with the massive diamond sparkler.

"I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes," she told People at the time.

"But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it's a promise ring. We'll be immature and call it a promise ring."

Jagger and Hamrick met in Japan in February 2014 when he was on tour with the Stones and she was with the American Ballet Theatre.

Hamrick and her friends connected with the rocker backstage at a Stones gig, but their relationship didn’t turn romantic until four months later when he invited her to join him in Zurich.

The couple welcomed Jagger’s eighth child, Deveraux Octavian Basil, in 2016.

The dancer previously opened up about backlash surrounding the 44-year age gap between them.

“I don’t think about it. Everyone’s going to have their opinion. If you think about others’ opinions, no matter where you are in life, you’re going to have a problem and you’re going to analyze it,” she told The Times.

Hamrick added that she puts “the blinders on” when it comes to backlash, saying: “Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”
