Michigan State vs. Michigan: Can Spartans pull off massive upset of rival?

One of the Big Ten’s best rivalries will be renewed this week.

Michigan State will host the annual in-state rivalry matchup against Michigan this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on NBC.

The Spartans enter this game looking to catch a break and snap out of a four-game losing streak. Just last week, Michigan State blew an 18-point fourth-quarter lead against Rutgers to fall to 2-4 on the year.

Michigan, on the other hand, has been dominant all year long. The Wolverines are the No. 2 team in the country and are averaging a margin of victory of nearly five touchdowns per game.

So does Michigan State have any chance at shocking their in-state rival? See what the Spartans Wire staff thinks in our weekly Michigan State predictions below:

Prediction: MSU 24, Michigan 42

Anything can happen in this game, any year, no matter what. That being said, Michigan State just hasn’t earned the belief that they can shock the world on Saturday. But you never know…

Prediction: MSU 13, Michigan 48

I have zero faith that this won’t be ugly. MSU just isn’t a good football team and Michigan is a top 5 team in America.

Prediction: MSU 17, Michigan 38

Michigan State has shown some life in their last two games but critical mistakes late in the game have cost them in both games. So I have no reason to think they won’t make more costly mistakes against Michigan, but unfortunately, this game won’t be anywhere as close as it was against Rutgers and Iowa.
