Michigan State basketball lost a legend this week, as Ron ‘BoBo’ Charles passed away at the age of 65.
Charles was a beloved member of the 1979 National Championship team as their sixth man. Charles was selected in the fourth round of the 1980 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.
Charles’ teammate Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson took to social media to mourn his friend and former teammate:
I am still in disbelief after hearing the news about my Michigan State University teammate Ron “BoBo” Charles. Ron was such a kind and nice person who never had anything bad to say about anyone. He always stayed positive and treated people with respect.
