Ahead of Saturday night’s Michigan–Michigan State game at Spartan Stadium, a trivia question about Adolf Hitler was displayed on the video board.
Fans at the game and at home were confused and upset about what was shown on the board, prompting an apology from Michigan State’s associate athletic director Matt Larson.
“MSU is aware that inappropriate content by a third-party source was displayed on the videoboard prior to the start of tonight’s football game,” the statement read. “We are deeply sorry for the content that was displayed, as this is not representative of our institutional values. MSU will not be using the third-party source going forward and will implement stronger screening and approval procedures for all videoboard content in the future.”

The third-party trivia video appears to be from “The Quiz Channel” on YouTube, as shared by journalist Timothy Burke on social media Saturday night. Based on Larson’s statement, it is not clear whether Michigan State screened the video before putting it on the video board.
