Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has issued a warning to voters regarding the possibility of foreign interference in the upcoming elections. While emphasizing that there is currently no evidence of such interference, Benson urged voters to remain vigilant and not be swayed by misinformation.

During a news conference on Tuesday, Benson cautioned voters about the tactics that foreign bad actors may employ to disrupt the election process. She emphasized the importance of maintaining trust in the transparent and secure electoral system in Michigan.

Benson reassured the public that her office is actively monitoring any potential issues that may arise. A team of 100 individuals has been deployed across the state to investigate any reported irregularities. Despite claims circulating online, Benson stated that no concrete evidence of interference has been found.

In a separate development, the US intelligence community recently issued a statement highlighting concerns about foreign efforts to manipulate public opinion and sow discord in the lead-up to the 2024 election. The statement specifically pointed to Russia as a primary actor engaging in influence operations to undermine confidence in US elections.

The joint statement from the FBI, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency underscored the ongoing efforts to combat foreign interference and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

As the election draws near, officials are urging voters to remain vigilant, verify information from credible sources, and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. By staying informed and actively participating in the electoral process, voters can help safeguard the integrity of the democratic system.
