Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh Works on Youth Football Chain Crew While Serving Suspension

While in the midst of a three-game suspension, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh still managed to find his way onto a football field Saturday.

The veteran coach, who wasn’t on the sideline for the Wolverines’ matchup against UNLV, couldn’t spend his weekend away from the gridiron.

While sporting his customary Michigan striped polo shirt and Jordan Brand hat, the coach opted to work the chains at his 10-year-old son Jack’s youth football game.

Harbaugh’s son, Jay, who normally serves as Michigan’s special teams coordinator, coached the team’s first half, leading the Wolverines to a dominant 21-0 lead over the Rebels. In the second half, Jay handed the reins over to running backs coach Mike Hart, who will guide the Wolverines over the final 30 minutes of action.

After winning their season-opening 30–3 win over East Carolina, Michigan will play host to Bowling Green next week. Jim Harbaugh is eligible to return to the Wolverines’ sideline Sept. 23 against Rutgers.
