Michigan Man Allegedly Stabs Company President In Copycat Attack

Parents of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley taken into custody, in Detroit

A shocking incident unfolded at Anderson Express Inc. in Muskegon, Michigan, when company president Erik Denslow was stabbed during a staff meeting on Tuesday. The suspect, identified as Nathan Mahoney, 32, allegedly carried out the attack, mirroring a recent high-profile killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

According to the Fruitport Township Police Department, Mahoney abruptly left the meeting but returned shortly after to stab Denslow in the side. Despite fleeing the scene, Mahoney was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement and now faces charges of assault with intent to murder and fleeing.

Denslow, who underwent surgery following the attack, is currently in serious but stable condition. The motive behind the assault remains unclear, with investigators exploring the possibility of a copycat motive given the similarities to the recent CEO killing.

Described as having a quiet demeanor by colleagues, Mahoney had only been with the company for a few weeks. The police are actively investigating his background, including his social media presence, to ascertain a motive for the violent act.

Anderson Express Inc., a manufacturing company specializing in automotive and defense sectors, expressed shock over the incident and extended support to its employees as they come to terms with the senseless assault. Denslow, who joined the company as vice president in January 2022 and was later promoted to president, is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect, Mahoney, is currently held in Muskegon County Jail on a $501,000 bond. The incident draws parallels to the recent killing of Brian Thompson, highlighting concerns of potential copycat attacks in the corporate world.
