Today, Tim Walz, the vice presidential nominee, is making his first campaign stop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, following Tuesday's presidential debate. This visit to the crucial battleground state comes ahead of his upcoming debate with Republican Senator J.D. Vance, less than three weeks away.

Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes emphasized the importance of Governor Walz's outreach to Michigan voters, highlighting the focus on Midwestern values and the necessity of hard work to secure votes. Barnes expressed enthusiasm for Walz's efforts to energize volunteers and ensure active engagement leading up to the election.

Reflecting on the competitive nature of the Michigan race, Barnes acknowledged the tight contest and stressed the ongoing need for dedicated voter outreach. She commended Vice President Harris and Governor Walz for their strategic approach, including personal visits and support for grassroots efforts in the state.

Regarding the economic landscape, Barnes addressed concerns about Harris trailing Trump in voter perception on handling the U.S. economy. However, she remained optimistic about Harris's ability to convey her understanding of middle-class struggles and her comprehensive plans to address key economic issues, such as healthcare, childcare, and pricing control.

As the election draws closer, Barnes emphasized that while time is limited, there is ample opportunity to continue vital conversations with voters. She underscored Harris's commitment to advocating for middle-class interests and reiterated the campaign's dedication to addressing critical economic concerns until the final stretch of the election.
