Inevitably, every year a reporter asks someone from Ohio State and Michigan about thoughts on The Game. And every year players will gladly oblige and give their biased opinion. Even though we’re still about six months from the Wolverines coming to Columbus, it’s never too early to start thinking about the greatest rivalry in all of sports.
Michigan defensive end, Kris Jenkins, joined the guys at Wolverine Digest for a segment and was asked about going to Columbus in November after beating the Buckeyes for the first time since 2011. Here’s some of what the Wolverine defender had to say regarding playing OSU this year.
“We want nothing more than to go in there and try and take over on their turf, on their fans talking all that trash. It’s really been that extra incentive that we want to go over there and take everything, and we know that they’re going to give us everything they’ve got – but we’re not going to let that happen.”
Not going to let that happen, huh? Those are some strong words. Maybe he’s forgotten that Michigan hasn’t won in Ohio Stadium since the year 2000. John Cooper was the head coach then and that loss led to Coop being dismissed and ushered in more than two decades of Buckeye dominance.
We’ll cut the kid a little slack. He doesn’t say anything that is blatantly inflammatory and he speaks with confidence as you’d expect anyone to do with a competitive bone in their body. We just think the Buckeyes will have something to say about it come November 26, and you can bet they’ll be ready.
