Michigan beat Alabama and college football fans made the same sarcastic SEC joke

Alabama football and its fans felt slighted after not making the College Football Playoff as a 9-3 SEC team, despite ugly losses to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt during the season.

They were MAD mad about the perceived Alabama snub, and nonsensical talk of the Crimson Tide deserving a playoff spot continued through the first-round games.

Well, after the ReliaQuest Bowl on Tuesday, college football fans who don’t root for Alabama got the last laugh, as the Crimson Tide — 16.5-point favorites at kickoff, per BetMGM — lost to a previously 7-5 and unranked Michigan team, 19-13.

Even as the Wolverines played without some key players on both sides — including running back Donovan Edwards, tight end Colston Loveland and multiple defensive lineman — they looked like the better and far more prepared team at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Alabama had more first downs (15-13) and more total yards (260-190), but Michigan capitalized on turnovers and dominated time of possession.

So when the clock hit zero and the Wolverines came out on top, college football fans on Twitter couldn’t help but make the same joke, which was basically pointing and laughing at Alabama and the SEC.
