Michelle Pfeiffer's rustic farmhouse kitchen cabinet color has stress-relieving qualities, say experts

Natural wood is having a major moment. The simple, organically-grained material appears across bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, and more. In Michelle Pfeiffer's kitchen, the detail takes the form of unpainted cabinets in a light, cozy wood with dark brass pulls.

The actress's kitchen has a rustic farmhouse design with a textural tile backsplash and warm granite countertops. Her warm wood cabinets steal the show creating a cozy and inviting environment in the space.

Michelle's kitchen cabinet idea has been an increasing trend in all different kinds of houses. Megan Slack, head of celebrity news at Homes & Gardens states: 'We're seeing unpainted kitchen cabinets in a diverse range of homes. From a modern contemporary space like Brie Larson's kitchen to a mid-century modern home like Chrissy Teigen's, to a natural, warm house like Courteney Cox's kitchen, the look is becoming more and more ubiquitous.'

She continues on the interior design trend, stating: 'We often look to celebrities to influence how we decorate our own homes, so it's only logical that we'll start to see wooden cabinets across interiors. I love this style because it is so versatile. By changing the type of wood, the finish, or the cabinet handles, you can create a completely different feel using just this one material.'

Dondi Szombatfalvy, Wisconsin-based kitchen and bathroom designer at Sims, shares Megan's admiration for the cabinet trend in Michelle Pfeiffer's kitchen. She states: 'Wood tones in kitchen cabinets, especially from even-grained wood like rift cut and quartersawn white oak, is an emerging trend that can provide stylish contrast in a space.'

However, the benefits of wood kitchen cabinets go beyond aesthetics. First, they can help to create a lasting kitchen. Dondi states, 'On the practical side wood grain can camouflage abuse that a well-loved kitchen can experience over time.'

Furthermore, this type of design can help to make a kitchen more relaxing. Dondi states, 'Biophilic design, which describes bringing natural elements into our living spaces, such as through the presence of natural wood, has been shown to have a positive influence on our well-being. For instance, being around natural materials can help reduce stress levels and improve wellness.'
