The former US first lady has claimed Melania Trump ignored her offer of advice about the role.
Michelle Obama said she wanted to follow in the footsteps of Laura Bush, her own predecessor, and told Mrs Trump she was always only “a phone call away” if she needed any pointers.
But when ABC host Robin Roberts asked her if Mrs Trump had “reached out”, Mrs Obama said: “No, she hasn’t.”
She added: “One of the things you learn as a former [first lady] is... don’t judge what a current is doing. So I’d prefer not to speak on what she’s doing versus what I did, because I think every first lady approaches this job differently.”
Mrs Trump’s spokeswoman confirmed the women had not been in correspondence.
