Michelle Mone says husband to issue update on PPE scandal to 'set record straight'

MICHELLE Mone has said her husband Doug Barrowman will issue a new statement as coverage over the PPE controversy surrounding the couple continues.

It comes after Mone appeared on the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show on December 17 to claim she and Barrowman had been made “scapegoats” for the UK Government’s wider failings over PPE supply in the pandemic.

She admitted she made an “error” in publicly denying her links to the PPE Medpro firm being investigated by the National Crime Agency.

In a post on Twitter/X on Sunday afternoon, she said: “There have now been weeks of continued press coverage involving the PPE Medpro story.

“My husband Doug will issue a statement tomorrow morning (January 1) at 9am to set the record straight.”

We previously told how Mone’s interview with the BBC received more than 150 complaints linked to “bias” in favour of her and her husband.

Mone previously claimed she is being treated like Columbian drug Pablo Escobar after having her bank accounts frozen.

In a previous tweet on December 13, she said: “If I’m being honest, the public probably see me as a horrible person, a liar, or even a cheat.

“But I am none of those things. These last two years have taken a horrendous toll on me personally, and I want to clear my name.”
