Scots Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus says she "can't stop thinking about the loveliest boy" Darius Campbell Danesh, following his death. In her post on Instagram, she shared a picture of one of his performances on The Hour, on STV, which she used to present.
Darius, 41, was sadly found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiner's office - according to a family statement.
Michelle added: "I've not stopped thinking about this boy since I heard the heartbreaking news on Tuesday night. I can only echo what every other person has said about Darius. He was the loveliest and kindest boy you could ever meet which is so important as sometimes kindest can be so underrated in this world.
"My thoughts and prayers are with with his lovely family. This is a still photo taken from his last ever performance on our show The Hour on @wesarestv1.
"He was an absolute gentleman to all the crew and sang Fly Me To The Moon note perfect in one take. What a terrible loss, you will so sorely missed dear Darius." With a broken heart emoji to finish.
Stars from across the world of entertainment have paid tribute, including Will Young, who also shared a throwback photo of the pair smiling while hugging one another and on Instagram gave his condolences in the caption.
Former Pop Idol hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly also remembered the singer, tweeting: "We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh at such a tragically young age. We had many laughs with him on his Pop Idol journey. Our hearts go out to his lovely family. #RIP" followed by a praying hands emoji.
