Michelle Keegan pictured filming second series of Brassic - with a new look

Michelle Keegan showed off a new look as she was spotted for the first time filming the second series of the Sky comedy Brassic.

The Our Girl actress and former Coronation Street favourite, from Irlam, sported a new curly hairdo and a Jack Sparrow-style headband as the drama returned to filming in Manchester.

Michelle, 32, enjoyed a laugh with the crew as they worked on new scenes for the show,  which is set in the fictional town of Hawley, based on Joe's home town Chorley.

Scenes were filmed in a circus tent in Heaton Park.

The TV star , who shot to fame as Tina McIntyre in Corrie and won an army of fans as Lance Corporal Georgie Lane in the BBC drama Our Girl, plays former wild child Erin in Brassic.

It was co-created and written by This Is England actor Joe Gilgun and BAFTA Award-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst, who has penned hit TV dramas including Safe, Ordinary Lies, Clocking Off, Accused and Shameless.

After receiving rave reviews when it arrived on screens last month, it was announced that it would be getting a second series.

It follows a group of working-class friends finding ‘unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia.’

The drama centres on Vinnie, played by Joe, a Lancashire lad with bipolar disorder, and his best mate Dylan played by Damien Molony. Michelle plays Damien's girlfriend who has a young son called Tyler.

On her first day at work Michelle's character was in a saucy scene in a chemical toilet with Dylan.

"It was the first day," she told us at a special screening of the first series at Vue cinema at the Printworks.

"On the first day it was like 'nice to meet you, get in the portaloo' and I was like 'okay.'"

"It was the first day, we just shook hands and said 'hi'", said Damien.

John Thomson was almost unrecognisable as he joined the cast this week.

The Cold Feet actor, who is also known for The Fast Show and Men Behaving Badly, wore a brown jacket and baggy grey tracksuit bottoms with sliders worn over socks.

And he was sporting a long, comb over hairstyle while filming at Manchester's Star and Garter Pub.
