Michelin-star chef Gordon Ramsay's favorite pan really is one of the best in the World – I've been using it for 5-years without one food fail

US chef Gordon Ramsay poses during the MIPCOM trade show(standing for International Market of Communications Programmes) in Cannes, southern France, on October 16, 2017.

If anyone knows how to spot high-performing cookware, it is culinary icon Gordon Ramsay. The multi-Michelin starred chef, restaurateur, and cooking show host put HexClad to the test. So unsurprisingly, when the mogul officially partnered with HexClad – and sang their praises – I knew I had to bite the bullet and try one for myself.

I am an avid cook, but I have spent years trying to find the perfect cookware. For many years, I couldn't find anything that I liked, until now. I was skeptical of this celebrity-backed brand, but after using these pans every day for nearly five years, I can confidently say that these impressive, hybrid pans really do live up to the hype.

With Gordon Ramsay's reputation for exacting standards, I was sold. The range includes pans, pots, woks, and griddles in various sizes, alongside bundle sets for those who want to stock up on this range. Better still? Some of the pans are on sale in the Amazon Black Friday sale, but you can also buy direct from Hexclad's Black Friday sale.

Ramsay swears he uses HexClad, in his home and professional kitchen. 'HexClad stands up to my demands at home and in the studio. Not only are they beautiful pans, but their hybrid technology cooks to absolute, utter perfection,' he says. After trying them myself, I share the same sentiment.

If you're going to invest in the best non-stick frying pan you won't regret making it this one. I cannot see myself switching anytime soon...

These pans might be expensive, but they are high quality. They arrived in a dust-proof bag, which I still keep the pan to this day. It has meant that my pan has remained scratch-free – but if you are a regular cook, or have a large family, this might not be entirely practical.

The HexClad pan is also heavy, so this is something to bear in mind if you prefer lighter-weight pans. In my past experience, I have found my heavier, weightier pans have lasted longer.

A big selling point for me was the revolutionary hybrid technology that combines both stainless steel and nonstick. I've always preferred to cook with stainless steel – this popular material offers excellent durability, can withstand high heat, and has notably fantastic heat retention. HexClad describes its nonstick coating as a 'Japanese coating infused with diamond dust.'

So how does the company achieve this? By layering laser-etched stainless steel – creating its signature hexagonal pattern – over a nonstick surface. The cookware features an aluminum core designed for even heating and a magnetic steel base, making it compatible with all cooktops, including induction. This was another huge selling point for me as I wanted to test this pan on both induction and gas cooktops.

To see if they lived up to the hype, I spent nearly five years before writing this article putting it to the test. Over this period, I've used the pan to fry eggs, seared steaks, and scrambled eggs. A year later, I purchased the wok to make numerous stir-fries, curries, sauté vegetables and sauce, and even as a deep fryer. In addition to cooking performance, I also assessed heat distribution and ease of cleaning.

There were a few things that stood out for me on the test. Firstly, the nonstick coating is fantastic – not a single food item stuck to the pan – even when I forgot to use any oil before I cracked an egg. I prefer my eggs to be crispy so I always use oil despite the nonstick coating. The fried eggs, on all occasions, nicely slide from pan to plate.

Another noteworthy point to mention is the fact that this pan is so easy to clean. Anyone who has regularly used stainless steel cookware will know this is usually the case, and the HexClad pan did not disappoint.

My final note is to be sure to season your cookware before you start using them, and occasionally season them every now and again to keep them in the best possible condition. Follow the advice in the instructions, and you'll find that, as I have, the HexClad brand really is worth its salt.
