Michelin Guide 2023 names all the best restaurants in Bristol on its list

The full list for the Michelin Guide 2023 has been confirmed at a prestigious ceremony celebrating UK and Ireland restaurants. Michelin awarded 21 new restaurants one star and three got two stars in its guide for this year. No new three-star restaurants were announced, but the owners of the lauded red book confirmed no-one had lost their three or two-star ratings.

No new Bristol restaurants were handed any stars but Bulrush and Paco Tapa kept their one-star ratings. But the city came out on top in the new announcements for Bib Gourmands last week, a distinction highlighting establishments offering great quality, great value cooking. Marmo, The Blaise Inn pub and COR were all awarded a Bib Gourmand, the latter of which has only been open six months.

Two restaurants just an hour's drive from Bristol recognised as new entries at the Michelin Guide Ceremony on Monday. Osip in Bruton, Somerset, - known for having no menu - already had one star but was handed a green star last night for its commitment to sustainability. And Cheltenham's Lumière, which earned a star, was praised for its memorable sauces as well as for growing many of the menu's vegetables on its own small holding.

Bristol still has two restaurants with one star and two with a green star. The new Bib Gourmand additions mean the city now has a total of five establishments with this rating. There are nine venues with no official rating but are mentioned in the guide.

"It might appear quite modest, but this neighbourhood restaurant is a sweet spot, with an appealingly relaxed, cosy feel; sit downstairs to soak up the atmosphere from the on-view kitchen. Top-notch seasonal ingredients are either foraged or organic, and preserving and pickling play a key role on the imaginative, well-balanced and deftly prepared tasting menu," the guide says.
