Michail Antonio believes Jarrod Bowen should not only be in the next England squad but his form earlier in the season saw his teammate hard done by not already having received a call-up.
Bowen is as the West Ham fans sing 'on fire' at the moment, with the attacker on a superb goalscoring run, but Antonio feels the England hopeful should have been included in the national squad last year.
The West Ham striker is not surprised by Bowen's performances this season and was surprised he has not already been picked by Gareth Southgate as his statistics proved he was in better form than many in the current England squad.
"Jarrod has seven in seven he has eight Premier League goals and eight assists in the Premier League and a few goals in the cup as well," Antonio told the BBC Footballers Football podcast.
"This season Jarrod has been on fire, he has been unbelievable and I would say he should have been called up in the last international break anyway because the people that got called up were not getting the stats that Jarrod has and Jarrod has done it all season."
The striker added: "You should get rewarded for doing a good job."
Antonio was asked what the difference is for Bowen this season but the Jamaican international does not believe Bowen has changed his game to any great extent.
"Jarrod has always been able to score goals, you could see that from his stats at Hull [City] even when he was here he scored quite a few goals last year and got quite a few assists so he has always been able to score goals but I just feel like in football you need things to just drop for you and that is what is happening," Antonio said.
"He could easily have had more goals but 'keepers have pulled off some unbelievable saves from his as well. So even though he has seven in seven, like against Watford Ben Foster put one onto the post with an unreal save, against Leicester there was another opportunity when I played it back to him, he didn't connect right and on another day he does and that is two goals [more] he has got.
"Things are just falling for him nicely, he is making the right runs so I would not say he has changed much it is just things are going right for him and things are falling for him. He is getting at least two chances a game."
Bowen's form has come at a superb time for West Ham, with Antonio struggling in front of goal lately and the striker admitted his own frustrations on that front.
"I am not going to lie I am getting a bit frustrated myself," he added. "Obviously I am not getting opportunities myself but it happens, the tide will turn and I will get my chances again."
