Michael Toohey murder suspect named after police interrogation

Police have named a man who is suspected of killing a teenager in an attack at an internet cafe.

Michael Toohey, 18, of Oil Street was beaten to death outside an internet café on London Road at 5.50pm on Saturday, April 16. Police and the ambulance service arrived shortly and took Michael to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem confirmed he died from multiple injuries. Earlier today two men were arrested on suspicion of murdering the teen and police have now charged Anthony Williams, 31, of Hillbrook Drive, Walton, with murder.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 17. A 33-year-old man of no fixed address, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder earlier, has been conditionally bailed.

A 34-year-old woman from Fazakerley remains on bail following her arrest last month on suspicion of assisting an offender.
