Michael Stewart reckons Giovanni van Bronckhorst is struggling to establish a preferred Rangers defensive pairing.
The pundit insists the Ibrox boss' team selection is telling that he's unsure of how best to set up in central defence.
Connor Goldson remains an ever present figure but the likes of Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Calvin Bassey, plus midfielder John Lundstram, have all slotted in at various points.
Stewart reckons that's a departure from previous seasons and says he can't tell who Van Bronckhorst's preferred duo would be at the heart of his backline.
He said on BBC Sportscene: "Over the course of the last couple of years, there’s been a couple of partnerships that have looked, at one time or another, to be the strongest
“It’s difficult to say at the moment and I think you can see with Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s team selection, that he’s not 100 per cent sure.
“Bassey’s played a lot in there then he’s back out to left back last night and Balogun’s back in. Helander’s come back from injury but he’s not played too much.
“It’s difficult to say at the moment and I suppose with nine games left to go, it’ll be interesting to see whether he settles on one of those partnerships or not.”
