Michael Schumacher's family 'planning' move to Majorca multi-million euro mansion to start 'new life'

Michael Schumacher's family are making plans to move to Spain to begin a new life, according to reports.

The former Ferrari star completely withdrew from the public eye after a near-fatal skiing accident in 2013, which saw him placed into a medically-induced coma for six months.

Now the F1 legend's wife Corinna is reportedly planning to move the family to a villa surrounded by a plot of land in the town of Port Andratx in Majorca.

The family was recently slammed by Schumacher's former manager Will Weber for keeping the sports star's health under wraps.

However, it is believed that the former driver has already visited their new island villa by helicopter, reports the Sun.

According to German magazine Die Bunte, the new property in Majorca is to become the family's winter home.

It is also claimed they have purchased a 54,000 square meter plot of land, which will be used to set up a horse ranch.

Corinna, 53, and the Schumachers' daughter Gina-Maria, 25, are both keen equestrians and have horses on their estates in Switzerland and Texas.

It is believed that the Schumachers purchased the plot, which is currently full of dilapidated buildings and almond trees, costing them a staggering €2.8million, according to reports.

Die Bunte today ran a preview for the front page feature titled " Corinna Schumacher: Your New Life in Majorca".

It states Schumacher's wife has "big plans on the sunny island", and she wants to make sure he has the "best medical care" and is with the family "as much as possible".

It seems the move has been planned for some time as the Schumacher family ties to Majorca were reported in May 2021.

The plot was reported at the time to have been purchased to "raise and ride horses on".

Schumacher's wife Corinna won the European Championship in western-style horse riding in 2010, while his daughter enjoys the sport as a hobby.

Gina-Maria's boyfriend, Iain Bethke, is also a show jumper.

The land is reportedly in Puerto Andratx near to the €32 million mansion Corinna is believed to have bought from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in 2017.

The huge property near Andratx features two swimming pools, a large garden, a helipad, a guest villa and stunning sea views.

It was reported last year that Corinna was selling the family's €7.6 million mansion on Lake Geneva in Switzerland.

The family initially denied plans they were going to move into the plush villa in 2018, but reports have persisted, including claims neighbours saw them at the property in 2019.

Schumacher's health remains a mystery after he withdrew from public life following his accident.

The F1 driver was a seven-time-world champion and is regarded as one of the greatest drivers of all time.

He raced from 1991 to 2006 and again from 2010 to 2012 - the second act of his career which saw him become instrumental in setting up Lewis Hamilton's dominant Mercedes team.

Schumacher retired in 2012, but just a year later, he was involved in the life-changing accident while on the slopes with his son Mick.

He suffered a traumatic brain injury which left him in a medically induced coma.

Schumacher has not been seen in public since.

His former manager Will Weber, who first signed Schumacher to his Formula Three team in the 1980s, has lashed out at his former client's family over a lack of access and 'lies' following his skiing accident, Express reports .

"It was a huge pain for me," Weber told Gazzetta dello Sport .

"I tried hundreds of times to contact [his wife] Corinna, and she didn't answer. I called Jean Todt to ask him if I should go to the hospital and he told me to wait – it's too early.

"I called the next day and no one answered. I didn't expect behaviour like that and I'm still angry about it. They kept me out, telling me it's too early, well now it's too late. It's been nine years. Maybe they should just say it the way it is.

"I could understand the situation initially as I always did everything I could for Michael to protect his private life. But since then we have only heard lies from them. Years after the accident, I said to myself to just look out for the family as I couldn't change things. He was like a son to me. Even today it hurts me to talk about it."
