Michael Owen has claimed that he would back Liverpool to win “against any side” in their current form, ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with bitter rivals Manchester United.
The Reds are preparing to host United and will be hoping for a repeat of their unforgettable, Mohamed Salah-inspired 5-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side certainly head into the reverse fixture in a rich vein of form, having not lost in the league since December and recently booking their place in the FA Cup final.
Meanwhile, United are battling for a Champions League place and are currently three points adrift of Tottenham in 4th, after recording a hard-fought win over Norwich at the weekend. The club have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent for Wednesday’s game at Anfield and ex-striker Owen has predicted an easy win for Liverpool.

“What a game this should be. I thought some of Liverpool’s football, particularly in the first half, was superb,” Owen told Bet Victor , when discussing Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City at the weekend.
“Thiago was the star man for me, he was so classy and barely gave the ball away. Luis Diaz was a threat throughout and was a problem for a top full-back, Cancelo, all day.
“I’d fancy Liverpool against any side right now. There’s so much confidence in the side and Klopp has so many options at his disposal. I’m going for a 2-0 win.”
With Liverpool currently a point behind league leaders Manchester City, a positive result would mean that the Reds would leapfrog Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of their home game against Brighton on Thursday. Having also booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals, a victory over United would see Jurgen Klopp’s side continue their quest to win an unprecedented quadruple this season.
