Michael Owen says 'no way' Leeds United man wasn't fouled ahead of Brighton goal

Michael Owen believes Jack Harrison was fouled by Solly March before scoring an own goal in Leeds United's 2-2 draw against Brighton at Elland Road.

Patrick Bamford had cancelled out Alexis Mac Allister's opener when his deflected shot from range crashed in off the crossbar just before the break.

But Harrison then hacked the ball into his net whilst attempting to clear his lines to restore Brighton's lead on the hour-mark.

Harrison quickly made amends for his error by bending a delicious strike into the top corner to rescue a point for the Whites. Nevertheless, Owen is certain that Harrison was upended in the build-up to the goal.

“Personally, I think this is a foul. But not many people are going to agree with me,” Owen said.

“I think he is about to clear that, I really do and I think he gets his foot clipped, then he ends up spooning into his own net.

“There is no way on earth he can kick that into his own net without it being fouled in the process.”

Leeds dropped back into the relegation zone despite picking up a point. Everton defeated Brentford, and Bournemouth stunned Liverpool in the early kick-off, as both clubs climbed out of the bottom three.

Javi Gracia's men sit 19th in the Premier League table, and are just one-point adrift of safety, with an important trip to Molineux to face Wolves coming up next.
