Michael Owen's 19-year-old daughter Gemma has explained her decision to take part in this year's Love Island.
The ITV show will return for its eighth series on Monday, June 6 at 9pm and proud dad Michael, 42, will be watching his daughter trying to find love. But as well as having a football legend for a dad, Gemma is also successful in her own right.
She has a successful career as a model and has also recently launched her own beachwear range - OG Beachwear. She has created the brand to sell luxury swimwear for women and men and opted to model one of her flagship designs herself. Gemma has had quite the change of career as she previously represented Great Britain in the equestrian dressage teams.

When asked why she decided to take part in the reality dating show, Gemma said: "I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer. I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, 'Why not?'".
On what makes her "a catch", the model said: "I do think I’m a good girlfriend. I would say that once I’m in something, I’m loyal and all for that person. I don’t think my head would get turned easily."
Gemma said she is a "relationship type of person" and that she "doesn't suit the single life". While she is hopeful to meet someone special, there are a few things that will put her off.
She added: "A lot of things give me the ick - bad hygiene, someone whose breath smells, their hair isn’t nice or they don’t look after themselves. A few clothing items can give me the ick, like someone who wears trainers with long socks!"
Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox
