Michael Owen predicts Manchester United triumph despite defensive issues leaving Ralf Rangnick 'gutted'

Michael Owen believes despite Manchester United's defensive issues, they will have enough to see off Brentford.

Thomas Frank's side have been a breath of fresh air since their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last season.

The Brentford Community Stadium has proved to be an unhappy hunting ground for Arsenal and Liverpool who both left without a victory.

But despite their early-season heroics, the Bees have stuttered and find themselves drifting down the table.

United will be looking to return to winning ways and right the wrongs of the collapse against Aston Villa as Bruno Fernandes' brace was cancelled out by two quick-fire goals from the claret and blues.

And former United forward, Owen, believes they will do just that in West London, backing Rangnick's men to come away with a 2-1 victory.

"I was disappointed from what I saw from Brentford against Liverpool. That’s now seven goals conceded in two games and despite making a good start to the league, they aren’t safe just yet," Owen told BetVictor.

"They’ve got a difficult run of games to come, and they’ll be desperate to not get dragged into the relegation fight.

" Ralf Rangnick will be gutted to not hold on to the win against Villa. They were in control of the game, so to not get the win was a blow.

"The positive would be that Bruno Fernandes looked back to his best. He’s not been up to his usual standards this season, but he took his second goal with a calm finish.

"Man United are clearly having defensive issues, so I can see them conceding here. I don’t think Brentford can score more than one though and I think United will win this."
