Michael Owen says that it is about time one of Liverpool's forwards was given more opportunities - now that he is fit and back on the pitch.
Diogo Jota quickly established himself as a fans' favourite after joining the Reds from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2020. The Portuguese international fired 13 goals in his first season and backed that up with a further 21 in the last campaign, but he has been blighted with injuries since.
However, the 25-year-old has now recovered and started Liverpool's last three matches. Former Red marksman Owen, is pleased and wants to see more of him.

Owen told Premier League Productions: “A lot of people feel he has been unlucky not to have played as much as he possibly could have. He hit the ground running at Liverpool because they have so many talented players up in those positions.
"He has been the fall guy a lot of the time. It’s about time that (Jurgen) Klopp gave him more opportunities now he’s back to fitness.”
Liverpool paid Wolves an initial £41million for Jota's services and got an immediate return on their investment. Having previously competed for a place in the front three with Sadio Mane, Jota could now be looking at a sustained run in the starting XI after teammate Luis Diaz was ruled out for at least eight weeks with a knee injury.
Jurgen Klopp's recent switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation would likely see Jota deployed on the left side of the attack along side Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, supporting Darwin Nunez as the focal point.
