Michael Owen makes prediction for Liverpool's clash with Inter

The Champions League is back and Liverpool are on the hunt for their seventh European crown, but will have to overcome Italian champions Inter Milan.

Liverpool travel to the San Siro for Wednesday nights last 16 clash - having already won in that stadium in December against AC Milan.

The Reds come into this Champions League tie after becoming the first English side to win all six of their group games and are amongst the favourites to win the trophy.

Pundits have made their predictions ahead of the big game in Milan and it's looking like a good result is waiting for Liverpool.

“Going to the San Siro is never easy, but the fact Liverpool won here earlier in the season will help them," said former Liverpool striker Michael Owen to Bet Victor.

"Inter have had a good season domestically but did lose both matches to Real Madrid in the Group Stages. I think they aren’t quite on Liverpool’s level and could struggle to deal with the Reds on the break.

"I can see a 2-0 Liverpool win.”

CBS Soccer also believes the Reds will win 2-1: "This could be tight until late on, but watch for the strength in depth available to Liverpool to swing the tie off the bench.

"Whether it is Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota or anyone else, Inter could be overwhelmed late on."

The Evening Standard backed CBS Soccer with their prediction of a 2-1 win for the away side.

"The home side know they must surely take a lead to Anfield to stand any chance of springing an upset but Klopp’s side have been in terrific form as they look to put pressure on Man City in the title race and should carry that into Europe."
